Just wanted to comment on a hand that I (Steve) was involved in this weekend at Harrah's that we mentioned in the previous post. This is where I try to bluff a younger player two to my left and I fail, but I think It has helped me reinforce a discussion Shawn, Me and a few other players have been having over the past couple of weeks about bluffing in 1/2. Lucky enough we had Shawn's fiance Candice there to snap a picture of me in deep thought lol.
I'm the button, as you can see in the picture, and I get dealt 57dd. Utg limps and it folds to me I make it $11, BB (villian) calls, utg calls. Flop comes AJ9hhh and they both check relatively quickly. I continue for $23, and they both call. My thought here was to rep an A and get one of them to call with a big draw, so I can bet again on blank turns or just give up if the turn connects. Turn was a 3c, so a blank but now there's two of them in and I've been playing pretty LAG, Both check again and I think about betting but I feel both are capable of already having the flush and are now just trapping so I check. River Jc. Young Asian kid a little while ago bought in for ~$100 2 or 3 times and punted them away, has since come back with a fresh stack of $300 and has built himself up to a ~$400, leads for $60. Utg folds and I start to think this guy almost always has the flush here, but now the board is paired and my hand could very well be AJ, A9, J9 type of hands so I tank for like a minute before making it $190. He thinks for about 30 seconds all the while saying stuff like crap what did I get myself into and then says oh well gotta gamble and calls. I show and he shows Q4hh for the flush.
Still not sure whether this is a good bluff or not, or whether bluffing in on a larger scale at 1/2 is good in a general sense whatsoever. But, I just wanted to post this to reference it for further use and to see If anyone actually read this thing. So if you happen to read this, what do think? Good/Bad? does he fold to a shove?
